This is a compilation of some of the actions by Dr. Strobl that has caused damage to Dr. Sabina Burton and to her husband Roger Burton.
Dr. Burton complains
about Dr. Strobl to Office of Civil Rights
On 5/11/2016 Dr. Staci Strobl, Chair of the Criminal Justice
Department, took Dr. Burton off a $ 400,000 federal grant proposal and replaced
her with a male adjunct lecturer. Dr. Burton is an associate professor with a
Ph.D. in the CJ Department. Dr. Strobl didn’t respond to any of Dr. Burton’s
emails regarding the grant proposal starting 5/11/2016. She didn’t explain why
she replaced Dr. Burton despite the fact that Dr. Burton
submitted the documents that Strobl needed one day prior to the due date
(5/13/2016) she had given Dr. Burton.
6-20-16
– Dr. Sabina Burton filed with the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) Department of
Education: (OCR-Complaint-6-20-16). In this complaint Dr. Burton explains Dr.
Strobl’s problematic actions:
“ (c) After CJ chair Dr. Strobl
removed me from a federal COPS grant proposal (via email on 5/11/2016).
Immediately, I expressed to her by email that I didn't want to be taken off and
that I had the most seniority and experience of all PIs on the application. Dr.
Strobl never responded to me.
(d) When I saw the finished grant proposal to COPS,
I noticed several misrepresentations on the application. I also learned that
Dr. Strobl hired a personal friend who is not part of
the CJ department to work on the proposal. I sent Dr. Strobl an email on
06/01/2016 and asked for clarification and requested that the errors be
addressed. She never responded.
(e) Chancellor Shields sent me a Letter of Direction
on 06/03/2016 that I received on 06/06/2016. In this letter
he reprimanded me for accusing a department member of retaliation and for
'intimidating and threatening' Strobl. Shields orders me to seize those
activities. I believe Chancellor Shields letter of direction to be an act of
retaliation because I asked for grievance hearings and alleged discrimination
in the COPS grant project. Shields does not allow me to defend myself against
false allegations and protects a person who has publicly defamed me. He
misinterprets my attempts to get a fair hearing as harassment and intimidation.
… I believe I have been removed from the
grant project because I asked for grievance hearings. … I believe … Strobl
(has) engaged in the adverse actions to persuade me to quit my employment at
UW-Platteville.
Dr.
Burton filed a Lawsuit which names Dr. Strobl as a defendant:

Dr. Strobl’s testimony in an
appeal hearing on 5-25-17 contains false and
defamatory statements:
Dr.
Strobl provided no evidence to
support any of the below statements.
At this hearing Dr.
Strobl told the hearing panel:
“1 A I was scared. I
know a lot about, unfortunately,
2 active shooters. I know a lot about workplace
3 violence. It's
something I studied in graduate
4 school. It's
something I keep abreast of as part
5 of my intellectual
interest. And I saw somebody --
6 and a husband of somebody, to be completely frank,
7 Roger Burton, who fits the profile of somebody who
8 eventually snaps in a really violent
way in the
9 workplace, and for me it
had to do with the
10 escalation
and the verbal animosity and the
11 absolute steadfast
commitment to a vague notion of
12 justice and "everybody is against me."

Strobl said this to a hearing panel that was considering whether to recommend firing my wife. There are many problems with this statement.
I sent
an email to Dr. Strobl asking her to retract the statements that defame me (Strobl-Defamation-injury-11-16-17). I wrote
to Dr. Strobl that I believed she had violated Wisconsin Statutes 943.30(4) and/or 943.30(1) by some of her statements.
I asked her to write a retraction and an apology but instead Attorney
Lattis somehow received the letter and sent it to the hearing panel and to my
wife’s attorney.
Strobl’s other problematic statements at the 5-25-17 hearing:
Dr.
Strobl also made other problematic statements at the hearing. Below are some them. Strobl’s
comments are in italics.
Q Did you receive any complaints from students about Dr. Burton during that time (fall 2016)? Strobl answered: “I did in late October receive some complaints, so the student -- and I did meet with some students, a handful, who claimed to be representing others, and through other sort of rumors there were complaints that in a seminar class, Dr. Burton was expressing her dissatisfaction with the university.”
Dr. Strobl provided no evidence of these mysterious “complaints” by phantom and nameless “students.” Hmmm.
Q how did Dr.
Burton interact with other colleagues in the Department of Criminal Justice in
the fall of 2016?
A Very strangely. She was in the fall of 2016 engaged in routinely, on a daily basis, name calling and bullying, using various social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and her own -- or her husband's, excuse me, but perhaps she had a hand in that as well, universitycorrection.com.”
Dr. Strobl provided no Facebook posts, Tweets, Google Plus
posts, or emails to support this ridiculous allegation. Hmmmm.
“So she (Dr. Burton) had sent e-mails to -- I think this was not this past year but the academic year before, that an e-mail to all the members of the faculty senate that Deb was a criminal, she was in violation of a Wisconsin statute for defamation, which was a false allegation.”
Interestingly, Dr. Strobl did not provide this email. It doesn’t exist. Hmmm.
“So she (Dr. Burton) appeared to be determined
to discredit Dr. Solar as somebody who -- she accused him of racism, I believe,
in an e-mail. … was -- I'd have to look
through the packet…. it went around to many people within the department.”
Interestingly, Dr. Strobl did not provide this email. It doesn’t exist. Hmmm.
“She (Dr. Burton) was recording -- secretly recording department meetings and then posting them on Universitycorrection.com or her husband was doing that. He may have been the actual physical poster but would have had to receive those recordings from her. It got to the point where the department couldn't hold a meeting because folks were not talking about anything.”
Timing proves this wrong. Sabina only recorded a handful of select meetings. Why would people be worried about being recorded? Hmmm.
“I couldn't get the faculty to transparently discuss nor agree on anything because they were so worried that if they said something that Dr. Burton didn't like, it was going to be on social media the next day.”
Why would people be worried about what they said at a
meeting showing up on social media? Were
they saying things in the meetings that were criminal? Hmmm
“I reached out to campus security.“
Campus security does not seem to have record of this. If Strobl called campus security to complain
about Dr. Burton why isn’t there a record of it? Hmmm.
Was Strobl the anonymous caller who falsely reported that Sabina was on
campus after the Chancellor banned her?
Hmmm.
“Dr. Burton's CV was a confusing mess, to be honest.”
Dr. Burton’s resume is stellar.
“there was an ongoing case since her (Dr. Burton’s) time in the federal prison of the 1980s.” -
Sabina was never in prison.
I’m not sure where this came from.
It is a false statement.
Wow. That’s about all I can say. Wow.
